Who does Occupational Therapy?
The two levels of occupational practice are as follows:
Occupational Therapist (OT): An OT holds a master’s degree from a recognized occupational therapy program and a four-year bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (such as biology, psychology, or the health sciences).
Assistant to an occupational therapist (OTA): An OTA holds an associate’s degree from a recognized program for OTAs. They can implement treatment plans created by an OT but cannot do patient assessments. OTs and OTAs must finish supervised fieldwork programs and pass a national certification test. Most states mandate continuing education courses and a license to practice.
Where do OTs work?
Occupational therapists work in many things, including hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, mental health centers, and private practices. And children’s clinics.
What does an OT do?
They work with people of various ages, including elders, preterm infants, toddlers, and middle-aged adults.
In other words, the therapist watches you during any work or activity. Then they devise a plan to make it easier or less painful by altering how you perform it.
The OT will evaluate your needs at your initial session. They might visit his home or place of employment to find out what he is doing and what adjustments he needs to make. If they are helping your child, they may go to their school. You could be instructed to shift some furniture or to obtain a cane or other assistance equipment. They might teach you improved ways to carry out regular duties.
